
DiFATTA A. JEAN During the early morning hours of Friday, November 13, 2015, Jean left our world. While a devoted wife of Charles, mother, sister, relative and a close friend of many, she was known for her stalwartness, generosity and gregariousness within her beloved Oakmont community. She was best known as the proprietor of Jean's of Oakmont, a focal point within the community for women's fashion for almost 40 years, which helped a number of young women explore retailing and business under her encouragement. She was an extremely hard working businesswomen, incredible retailer, community activist, accomplished cook, tap dancer and opera lover. She also encouraged women's participation within the community and was a faithful companion to her two Brittany Spaniels, Pepe I and Pepe II. As a member of the chamber of commerce Jean spearheaded the launch of community events such as the Oakmont Boulevard Sale and the Christmas Parade, as well as the celebration of the first reopening of the Hulton Bridge in the 1960s. After retirement, she was often seen sitting at the front of her house greeting passers by, shopping within the local area and entertaining her friends and relatives whom she loved so dearly. Jean is survived by her son, Chas; daughter-in-law, Sandy; and sister, Mary Jane Kelly. Jean will be missed by many and sadly, Allegheny River Boulevard in Oakmont will not be the same. Family and friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015, at the ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC.,378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139.
