EVANS FLORENCE B. AGE 94, A RE...

EVANS FLORENCE B. Age 94, a resident of Longwood at Oakmont and formerly of New Kensington, died on Monday, November 2, 2015, at her residence. She was born March 4, 1921, in Springdale to the late John N. and Inez Siegfried Borland. In 1947, she married Kenneth J. Evans of New Kensington, who preceded her in death in 2006 after 58 years of marriage. Mrs. Evans was a 1938 graduate of Springdale High School, and attended Grove City College from 1938 to 1940. From 1940 to 1947, she was employed as a credit clerk by the Wear-Ever Division of ALCOA in New Kensington, leaving that position to become a homemaker, mother, and church and community volunteer. For over 65 years she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Kensington, where she taught children's Sunday School for over 25 years. In addition, she served as President of the United Methodist Women, and was active in many other church organizations. She was also a past member of the Aluminum City Eastern Star, serving as a Worthy Matron, and had served as President of the Women's Club of New Kensington and President of the Pucketos Garden Club. Mrs. Evans is survived by her five children, K. James, Jr. (Lisa), of Bradford, PA, William J., of Marietta, GA, Stephen H. (Lisa), of Alpharetta, GA, Jeffrey R. (Sharon) of McCandless, and Anne E. (Nicholas) Korenowski, of Chagrin Falls, OH; and five grandchildren, Shea Nicole and Casey Leigh Evans, and Kayla Anne, Jenna Anne and Nicholas Evans Korenowski; in addition, she is survived by her brother, Robert S. (Emma) Borland, of Cheswick; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister and a brother, Edith Cooper and John “Jack” Borland. Friends will be received at the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, on Thursday from 6-8 p.m., and on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. by her pastor, the Rev.
